What is the measure of each?
A city cries for justice,
but wants its own desires met.
How can it have both?
Babylon and Jerusalem are in the heart.
What God transforms–is what makes the city Jerusalem.
What stagnates and continues patterns of circular confusion is what makes Babylon.
Babylon and Jerusalem are within us.
Kindness will not save the city. Neither will individuality.
Neither will the collective.
I know what will save the city. I know it’s not my will.
What has saved cities in the past?
Force? Isms? Politics? Movements?
Seek the eternal city of peace, and it might change this one.
Only at the Telos will we know and will we see what we have all longed for.
All that we have hoped for in our short, vapor of existence.
